So glad we ran into you, Joyce, and we acted right away on your great tip to take the girls to see Voz/Voice: we went that afternoon. It can be a handful to take 3-year-olds to an art gallery, but this was the ideal show to make their introduction to YAC and see their first major exhibit. They absolutely love wildlife and nature, and several pieces were so interactive, so it was a really wonderful experience for all of us. Congratulations to all of the artists on the show.

I love the website; really informative and easy to read-great design. I love that you are up in the Yukon!
I am an artist who has given up the constant production of art to be a nurse for the elderly, so I am living vicariously through all of you. Thank you. the art is amazing.

Hi Paula:
Joyce was the main facilitator working with the children and she used either commercially available tempra paints or acrylics. I was the go fer for the project in the school. However when on the Three Rivers Project, Elaine Alexis explained that the red ochre we found along the Wind River is special to her people. Elaine was the youngest member of our Wind River team and is an Aboriginal youth active in promoting her cultural heritage.
I didn’t come across any information about the insects used for the red colour while in Mexico.

Hello Joyce and Haruko
I am reading “Colour” aNatural History of the Palette by Victria Finlay, and was fascinated to learn that most red comes from the little cochineal insects who live on cactus leaves. I wonder if you were able to see this when you were in Mexico, or if anyone talks about that?

Good to hear from you. I was wondering when you would be back to Canada. Good to see you are checking out the site. Thank you and your team for your interesting art and eco info, I , as an X Yukoner, always read with interest what you are doing . I am still in Tokyo Japan, and after 20 yrs or more , am coming home to Victoria , to start a small language school and Eco Film school This will start in Nov 02 of this year. I would like to take this opportunity to invite Joyce and friends to come to my school for art or anythng I can help with.
