One idea leads to another, creativity is sparked, and suddenly new tantalizing paths emerge to be investigated. This is the purpose and energy that fuels the LLAMA Project.
Connecting with other artists
The LLAMA Project’s Canada-Mexico exchange involves seven “core” artists. However, the very nature of the work leads to collaborations or energetic exchanges of ideas, experiences and skills with other artists they come into contact with. New ways of seeing are discovered and new ideas and approaches are seeded by LLAMA’s planned and spontaneous activities.
LLAMA strives to be inclusive and to widen the network of artists connected to the project. Although other artists may not be included in the LLAMA Project’s exhibitions, they may be invited to create an e-book, share their experiences in a blog, or contribute in other ways to the project’s outcomes.
Connecting to community
The LLAMA Project is also about engaging with the people and their communities as a way of deepening the artists’ understanding and explorations of the LLAMA Project’s themes . LLAMA Project artists also work to give voice to people on issues that impact their place in the world. The LLAMA Project encourages youth and community involvement, and celebrates diversity and innovation.
Additionally, by sharing their own stories with the community, the LLAMA artists hope to provide the public with insights into how they work, think and live, and what compels them to make their work.
